Alkavex, the steel trading arm of Alkagesta, has carried out business development visits in the Chinese cities of Tangshan and Tianjin, meeting steel producers, trading businesses, processors and industry representatives. According to Alkagesta Newsroom, the engagements formed part of the company’s continuing commercial development activities in China and supported relationships connected to its regional sourcing and trading operations.
Bayram Bayramli, China Business Developer at Alkagesta, led the visits. The company’s account said the discussions covered manufacturers, processing businesses and industry associations, giving Alkavex a direct view of production capabilities and supply chain infrastructure in the area. International trade opportunities were also among the areas the engagements helped the business examine, alongside its work to develop commercial relationships in the Chinese steel sector.
Alkagesta Newsroom described Tangshan and Tianjin as jointly forming one of China’s most important corridors for steel production and exports. The company said the visits reinforced the relationships supporting Alkavex’s sourcing and trading activity there. The two cities were the focus of the reported programme, bringing the venture into contact with businesses involved in producing, processing and trading steel, as well as representatives of the industry.
Based in Malta, Alkavex is a joint venture between Alkagesta and French steel trading company Navex SAS. Alkagesta owns a majority stake in the business. Its initial product focus is on semi-finished and finished steel, with China serving as the principal source of supply, according to the company’s account of the venture and its commercial remit.
Alkavex serves customers in both West and East Africa. Alkagesta Newsroom said the venture combines market expertise with logistics capabilities and trade finance solutions to support growing regional demand. It identified construction, manufacturing and infrastructure development as the sectors behind that demand for the steel products the business supplies.
