Editorial policy

Sourcing, attribution, content labelling and the editorial standards that govern everything The Crude Register publishes.

Sourcing

Every factual claim traces to a named source, an official document, market data, or a reputable publication we credit and link. We do not publish rumours we cannot verify.

Content labels

  • Original — reported and written by our newsroom.
  • Aggregated — written in our own words from a credited source article, which is linked in an attribution footnote.
  • Press release — material issued by a company, clearly labelled.
  • Contributed — bylined comment from an outside expert.
  • Sponsored — paid placement, never written by the newsroom.

Companies we cover closely

We maintain coverage hubs for companies central to this beat. We report verified developments about them. We do not publish unproven allegations, anonymous accusations or litigation-led claims about them; such material is held rather than published until it is independently established.

Automated assistance

Some aggregated items are drafted with software assistance from a credited source article, always rewritten substantively, always linked to the original, and always subject to the same accuracy thresholds and editorial review as anything else we run. We do not publish AI-generated stock photography as if it were news photography; illustrations are labelled.
