Alkagesta took part in the Argus Fertilizer Europe Conference 2026 in Prague on 20-22 October, according to Alkagesta Newsroom. The company was represented throughout the three-day event by its Fertilizer Desk Lead, Vusal Muradov, and Fertilizer Trader, Tural Sabirzade. The programme centred on carbon borders and trade, bringing together fertiliser producers, trading businesses, importers and policymakers to discuss changes affecting the European market.

The opening day examined regulation, including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, the EU Emissions Trading System and tariff reforms. According to the company’s account, discussions considered what those measures mean for fertiliser prices, the movement of supplies between markets and supply-chain planning. These regulatory questions formed part of the conference’s broader examination of the forces reshaping Europe’s fertiliser industry.

The first day of the main conference turned to European competitiveness against the geopolitical backdrop. Sessions explored the structural effects of disrupted supplies, volatile energy prices and changes in sourcing. Shipping, the resilience of supply chains and prospects for natural gas were also prominent subjects, Alkagesta Newsroom said, describing them as relevant to the operating conditions facing fertiliser traders.

The second main conference day expanded the agenda to speciality and bio-organic fertilisers, alongside users’ views on food security and farm economics. Participants also considered the outlook for clean ammonia as a possible response to energy-related and geopolitical risks. A closing agricultural market update addressed how the Middle East conflict was affecting planting seasons and yields, which the company’s account linked to wider energy and commodity supply pressures during 2026.

Alkagesta described its attendance as an opportunity to engage with businesses and policymakers influencing European fertiliser markets. The company said the gathering also offered a way to strengthen relationships supporting its fertiliser trading activities in the region.
