Alkagesta has secured access to the Argus Open Markets window covering European biodiesel, HVO and used cooking oil (UCO), according to a statement published by Alkagesta Newsroom. The move expands the company’s participation in commodity pricing processes, adding access for these biofuels markets alongside its earlier approval for a petroleum products assessment process.
Participants in the Argus window can submit bids, offers and completed transactions for consideration in the price reporting agency’s assessments. Alkagesta Newsroom said the resulting benchmarks are used across European biofuels markets by producers, trading companies and end users. The access gives Alkagesta a channel through which its market activity can be considered in those assessments.
The company linked the development to the growth and commercial activity of its biofuels desk, which was launched in 2025. According to the statement, the operation now covers UCO origination, biodiesel and HVO trading, ISCC-certified sustainable aviation fuel and EU ETS allowances. The newly announced window access specifically covers European biodiesel, HVO and UCO, rather than the desk’s full range of activities.
Anthony Guida, Alkagesta’s Biofuels Trading Desk Lead, said participation would help increase market liquidity and improve the accuracy of Argus price assessments. He also said it would support greater market transparency and faster adoption of biofuels. Those expected benefits were presented as the company’s view of its participation in the window.
The announcement follows Alkagesta’s previous approval to take part in the Platts Market on Close assessment process for physical naphtha in EMEA. The two approvals give the company a presence in assessment processes spanning both petroleum products and sustainable fuels.
Argus Media is headquartered in London. Alkagesta Newsroom described it as an independent supplier of pricing, market intelligence and data services, with more than 1,500 employees across 32 offices and users in 160 countries.
