Alkagesta has received an EcoVadis Committed Badge for its approach to responsible business practices across its global trading activities, according to Alkagesta Newsroom. The company presented the recognition as part of its work to integrate sustainability into its operations and as a basis for further improvements in the areas covered by the assessment.

The newsroom said EcoVadis evaluates businesses across four areas: environmental practices, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its assessment examines evidence relating to corporate policies, reporting and transparency against internationally recognised sustainability standards. Alkagesta said the badge reflected its performance against those criteria, with the assessment also offering a structure for the company to develop its practices further.

The trader placed the award alongside its existing environmental, social and governance commitments. These include ISCC and CORSIA certification for sustainable aviation fuel trading and access to allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System, according to the announcement. Alkagesta also cited continuing investment in environmental research initiatives, identifying the Clean Caspian startup as one example of that work.

Chief executive Orkhan Rustamov said the recognition reflected efforts across Alkagesta to make responsible practices part of everyday business management rather than a standalone programme. He linked that approach to the company's role in trading commodities central to the global economy, saying integrity and transparency were responsibilities it took seriously. His comments framed the badge as a starting point for further work rather than the end of that process.

Rustamov said Alkagesta intended to keep improving its standards across the areas assessed by EcoVadis. The announcement therefore positioned the badge both as recognition of work already undertaken and as a framework for continued development, alongside the fuel-trading certifications, emissions allowance access and environmental research investment cited by the company.
